Announcements/Recognition

• Nico Kilmer - Our district will be sending GSE team to Brazil on May 12…still need a team leader and Non-Rotarian participants.  October 31st is application deadline.  Nico also thanked those who participated in the Auto Expo tri tip booth and mentioned that the Foundation Seminar North is coming up on Sept 20th.
• Pat Whitchurch - Announced that Gary Wyatt will be having a Rotarian pool party coming up on Saturday August 30th at 1:00.  Bring a salad, side, or dessert.  2505 Barber Creek Rd. Hydesville
• Connie Berti – Announced the upcoming chamber mixer at Johnny’s on August 20th.  BBQ and jungle juice for all
• Alan French – Rotary day at the fair is coming up on August 14th. Social at 12:30 and lunch at 1:15.  Races begin just after 2:00
• Kevin Johnson – Only 10 people have signed up to help at Hops in Humboldt….for the amount of money we will receive we should have far more volunteers.
• Jim Seiler – Rotary Golf Tournament is coming up on Sept 5th at 1:00.  Four man scramble with plenty of prize money on the line.  Rotarians are encouraged to form teams with non members to help round out the field.
• Inbound exchange student will be arriving next Friday.  Erin Dunn, Leonard Whitchurch and Keith Borges will be the hosts.  Thanks for your support!
• Lou Soria is undergoing chemotherapy and will be away for a while.  Lou asks that you keep him in your prayers.
• Alan French – Mentioned that his daughter’s wedding was a smash.  They married in Benbow and enjoyed a nice fiesta at the Scotia Inn.  $10 fine
• Ken Zanzi – Acknowledged for his spread in the Eureka Reporter indicating his candidacy for city council.  Ken paid $100 and joined century club
• Pat Whitchurch – Fined $10 for being a chili cookoff judge

Duane Ashback from the Rapit Rail Infrastructure Task Force spoke about the Redwood Marine Terminal and Harbor revitalization proposal from Goldman Sachs.
