Fortuna Rotary - Newsie Notes

The regular meeting of the Fortuna Rotary Club was called to order at 12:30 on Thursday July 3, 2008 by our newly crowned President/Queen Nico Kilmer. Pledge was led by Bob Zigler and the invocation by Rev. Owren.

Announcements and Recognition:
1. Nico handed out the 2008/2009 committee Assignments and program assignments. If you did not come to this meeting, be sure to come next week to find out which and how many new committees’ you are now on!!!! You do not want to miss out on the opportunity to serve our Queen.
2. Hider sent his letter of Resignation in because he is moving to Arizona. He is a 24 year member. He wrote, "I want to invite everyone to come and see me and Thanks for the memories!"
3. Our DG (District Governor) will be here on the 17th. for our meeting. President Nico would like all Board members and all Committee Chairs to come to a prior meeting at 10:30 at Hunan's on the 17th. If you do not know if you are a committee chair, you better come to this weeks meeting to find out. On Tues. 15th. we are Co/hosting dinner with the Morning club at Las Cazuelas. Once again, President Nico would like as many of us to attend as possible.
4. Bob Zigler handed out many Thank you's to all the members who were such great helps to him.
5. Dennis Hazelton gave a report on the De-bunking of Bob Zigler.
6. Connie Bertie gave a report on Art/wine in the park. The sold all 600 glasses. They netted $10K
7. Kate Lanferman talked about us buying a second BBQ. She said Costco has a large one for $600. A second one had already been approved by the Board. We just had not purchased it yet.
8. Somerville joined the century club. He is the first member of Nico's term. But.....he wrote an IOU. He had a forehead injury from Results Fit Camp. He ran the park and jumped a fence- NOT.
9. Ken Huffman went to the Feather River Casino and saw the Oak Ridge Boys. He is now a member of the Century Club. But he paid CASH.
10. Chili Cook-off is July 14th.
Program:
Our new President Nico talked about her goals for 2008/2009. MAKE DREAMS REAL! (DK LEE Rotary Int. President) Nico wants to "Help children locally and Internationally." And Nico said, "TO Have fun and do good"
