The regular meeting of the Fortuna Rotary Club was called to order at 12:30 by our President/Queen Nico Kilmer. Pledge was lead by Allan Baird and the invocation was by Pat Whitchurch.
Visiting Rotarians:
Guest: of Rotarian Johnny Wise - Shelly - Johnny Wise's long, long time girlfriend. A really long time.
Announcements and Recognitions:
1. Foundation Dinner North, Sat. Oct. 18 at the River Lodge. "Dreams take Flight". Sign up sheet please see Nico.
2. Hops will be Aug. 23. We need Volunteers. Our club will net $30,000 from this so our President Nico wants to make sure we earn every penny. So please join in and help out. We need at least 20 workers. Many just to pour beer.
3. Our club made $1500 at Auto Expo selling our tri tip sandwiches. Thanks to all who helped. Sunrise only made $800. Nico said we had to turn away a dozen people. Ken Huffman said we turned away 12 - 15. Pat Whitchurch said, "Nico can't count and Ken can't hear."
4. Rotary Day at the Fair. August 14. You get in free if you have your Rotary pen on.
5. Sept. 5 is the golf tournament. Get your team together.
6. Our Major Fund Raiser will be April 9, 2009 at the River Lodge. Mark it on your calendar.
Fines:
Shannon McWhorter was recognized for the wonderful job he did on the Rodeo. No fine. A big Thank you! But then he mentioned his son and daughter-in-law had a new baby boy on 7/30/08. Cooper Kelly McWhorter. He was fined $20
Maureen Lackey retired from BOA but she now has a new job. Sort of. She was fined $5
Program:
Jesse Duncan, he now works for Premier Advisor. His new email is jesse@premieradvisor.com Make a note of it. Wk #707-443-2741. He discussed how he and his office are Financial Planners. They are partners and Ri jesse@premieradvisor.com sk managers for their clients. The new investment term "F**K" There is good news out there. Stop listening to the evening news median. He was fined $5 for the new word.
Birthdays: Johnny Wise has turned 41 and he still is not married to Shelly.
